Services

The Curriculum Materials Library provides many services to UNLV's College of Education students, staff, and faculty, as well as professional K-12 teachers in the community. In addition to basic materials checkout and fielding general questions at the reference desk, we also offer:

Course Reserves
Course Reserves refer to items which have been selected by faculty members to supplement courses.

Physical Reserves

These are physical items which are kept behind the CML service desk and can include library owned items or items belonging to faculty members.

  • Physical items can be searched for in the catalog by faculty member name or course title.
  • Check out periods for physical reserve items are 2 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days and are decided by faculty members.
  • To check out physical reserve items, please speak to a CML staff member.
  • Physical reserve items should be returned to a staff member at the CML service desk (please do no place reserve items in a library drop box).

Electronic Reserves

These are electronic files which are found online and require a library account to access.

  • Electronic reserves can be searched for online by faculty member name or course title.
  • If you have any problems logging into the electronic reserves system, please speak to a CML staff member or contact the Lied circulation desk.

Equipment & Learning Spaces

Teacher Prep Room

This special resource area of the CML contains equipment designed for the preparation of instructional materials. The available equipment includes:

  • 2 laminators (one standard, one foamboard)
  • Paper cutters
  • Spiral binding machine
  • Die cut presses
  • Wide variety of Ellison die cuts

The prices for instructional materials are as follows:

  • Lamination: $1 per foot
  • Butcher Paper: 10¢ per foot
  • Binding: 50¢ per plastic comb
  • Transparencies: 25¢ per sheet
  • Poster Board: $1 per board
  • Small Construction Paper (9" x 12"): 5¢ per sheet
  • Large Construction Paper (12" x 18"): 10¢ per sheet

Computer Classroom

Media Viewing Room

The CML Media Viewing Room is available to UNLV students, faculty, and staff for academic use only, and the use of this room for commercial or non-academic uses is prohibited. Priority of use is given to groups of three or more patrons.

The specifics of the room are as follows:

  • Seats about 8
  • Available for group study sessions
  • Computer with large, wall-mounted smartboard display
  • Whiteboard (markers can be checked out at Circulation desk)
  • Can be reserved for group use

The policies for using the Media Viewing Room are as follows:

  • Reservations may be made in quarter hour increments up to two hours.
  • Students may only have one active registration in the system at a time.
  • Reservations for group study sessions can be made up to two weeks in advance.
  • Reservations will be cancelled if groups are not present within fifteen minutes of reservation time.
  • Use of CML Media Viewing Room requires a reservation. Advance or walk-in reservations are acceptable.

All other meeting spaces can be reserved by approval of the CML staff.

Quiet Study Room / Seminar Room

  • Available during general library hours
  • Can be reserved by faculty for class instructions

Study Carels

  • 7 study carels
  • Network jacks

CML Computer Workstations

  • 29 computer workstations
  • Microsoft & Adobe software (complete software list)
  • SPSS/PASW on all classroom computers

Scanners

  • 3 Canon Canoscan 8400F scanners

The CML offers library orientation tours and instruction sessions by appointment at any time during the semester. These sessions can be designed to focus on:

To schedule a session for your class please call 895-3593 or stop by the CML Circulation Desk in CEB 101. You can also fill out our online request form.

Printing & Copying

Printing Costs

  • black and white: 3¢ per page
  • color: 40¢ per page

Copying Costs

  • single sided: 15¢ per page
  • double sided: 30¢ per page

Equipment

The CML has 1 copy machine, two black and white printers, and one color printer.

Requirements

In order to print at the CML, you must either have your RebelCard activated and have money on it or purchase a Rebel Guest Card from the CML circulation desk.

How to Print

  1. Use Print Preview to make sure you are happy with your print results. This can help you avoid being overcharged.
  2. From the computer workstations, name and send your print job to the appropriate printer.
  3. Go to the Pharos print station and swipe your RebelCard or Rebel Guest Card.
  4. Click on your print job from the list to release the print job.
  5. The amount will be deducted from your card.
